Panaji : July 12, 2018 … The Secretary for Power, Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS, had recently convened a meeting with the Engineers from the Electricity Department along with the elected representatives of various villages at the Secretariat to discuss issues related to power supply in Mapusa and Candolim. Present on the occasion was Minister for Fisheries and Water Resources and MLA of Siolim, Shri Vinod Paliencar.
It was informed at the meeting that dangerous electricty poles would be replaced on a priority basis. Smt. Mohanan also said that the authorities would first rectify problems of the first phase of installing LED lights before going into the second phase.
Electricity officials were also instructed to communicate with the Village Panchayats on a regular basis with regards power shut downs. It was clearly told to them that no laxity of the staff would be tolerated.
It was brought to the notice of the authorities that there were some who were taking electricity connection on domestic grounds and utilizing the same for commercial gains. The authorities said that all such cases would result in cancellation of connections and a penalty.
Electricity officials informed that once the Badem and Mandrem sub stations and the 220/33 KV GIS Sub station in Saligao come up, the whole of North Goa would get proper power supply.
