PANAJI: 9th March ::: The 5th Edition of the GFDC Rising Star Football Festival- Tier II finals will be held on March 9 at the SAG Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. 6 teams will play for 3 titles of the football festival. In U-10 boys category GFDC Navelim will take on GFDC Siolim, in U-13 boys category GFDC Valpoi will clash with GFDC Parra and GFDC Arambol will take on GFDC Navelim in girls U-13 category.
In the Girls U-13 semis, Sakhshi Gawde scored the match winner to ensure GFDC Arambol a narrow 1-0 win against GFDC Vagator at Parra ground. In another match GFDC Navelim defeated GFDC Uguem, 3-0.
At Aldona ground in the Boys U-13 semis, GFDC Parra overcame GFDC Arambol via penalties. This match was evenly fought and both teams failed to score in their given stipulated time. Finally Parra won by tie-breaker. In another match GFDC Valpoi got the better of GFDC Cuncolim, 1-0.
In the Boys U-10 semis, GFDC Navelim beat GFDC Fatorda 5-0 and GFDC Siolim beat GFDC Poira by a huge margin, 4-0.
The Tier II finals will kick off at 3.00 p.m on Friday. While the Tier I finals will be played on March 11 at the same time and venue.
