January 16, 2018 … Department of Fisheries organised a programme titled Fishermen Dialogue at Department of Fisheries hall at Agonda, Canacona recently.
The programme was held to have interaction with the Fishermen so as to know about their problems and difficulties and offer them solutions. Minister for Fisheries Shri Vinod Paliencar, who attended the programme, interacted with the fishermen from Canacona areas such as Agonda, Pollem, Loliem, Poinginim, Nuvem etc.
The main issues/difficulties raised by Fishermen includes lack of ramp facilities, loss of canoe, lack of fishing sheds to house their canoes, lack of electricity/water facilities at some fishing jetties, disbursement of pension amount to Fishermen and house repair subsidies. They requested the minister to redress their problems.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the difficulties raised by fishermen and said that, he will try to resolve them. He also stated that, alongwith all the senior officials of concerned departments he will personally inspect all the places where infrastructure is needed and try to solve them immediately. Shri Paliencar also assured all the Fishermen that they won’t be deprived of their rights.

Sarpanch Agonda Panchayat, Shri Suraj Pagui, President of Akhil Goa KhshtIrya Pagui Samaj , Smt. Shilpa Pagui, Ward panch and Panch Member were also present on the occasion .
