AGRICULTURAL PROSPECTS FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER 2017

  Panaji, January 13, 2018 …. The Directorate of Agriculture has released data on the Agricultural prospects for the month of December 2017 of  Directorate of Agriculture. Sowing of Pulses crop is almost complete. Vegetable seed including Hybrid seed were provided to the farmers on 50% assistance for promotion of vegetable in Rabi 2017-18. Sugarcane crushing season has started by Sanjivani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana ltd. State Agriculture Awards during  2017-18 were awarded on Goa Liberation Day function held  at Campal Parade Ground at the hands of Chief Minister.  The recipients of awards were Shri Govind Barve, Sattari, (Krishi Ratna-Citations and Rs.2.00 lakhs), Shri Bartholomeu Miranda, Nuvem, Salcete Goa-Krishi Vibhushan Citation and Rs.1.00 lakh and Shri Krishna Yesso Phaldessai, Bali, Quepem Goa, (Krishi Bhushan- Citation and Rs.0.50 thousand)

The Directorate along with implementing Agencies i.e HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Ltd in North Goa district and SBI General Insurance Company Ltd for South Goa District conducted 11 Nos. Training and Awareness Programme at Taluka  level with Bankers and farmers on “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY): Where in 68 Extention field functionaries, 63 bankers and 295 attended.

  Directorate of Agriculture participated in the “Lokaotsav” organised by Adarsh Yuva Sangh, Gaondongri and Kotigao, conducted at Adarsh Gram, Canacona. Organized an exposure visit of 3 Officers of this Directorate and 32 farmers of Goa to Maharashtra State, to acquaint them with various activities in the field of Agriculture and also visited the KISSAN 2017 at Pune.

            Training programme on “Micro Irrigation System” organized by State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute , Ela, Old-Goa at Jain Hi-Tech Agriculture Institute, Jalgao Maharashtra, wherein 10 Officers of this Directorate attended. 11100 Nos of Bracon Adults (Bio-Control Agents) were produced at the State Bio-Control Laboratory Ela, Old Goa and 7200 Nos were released in the field. 158 Nos. of soil samples were analyzed at Soil Testing Laboratories at Ela Old Goa and Margao Goa. 126 Nos. of Soil Health cards are issued.18.50kgs Mushroom spawn was produced and sold at Mushroom Laboratory, Ela Old Goa.

            The Directorate in association with National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning (NBSS and LUP) Nagpur, Maharashtra organized World Soil Day on December 12, 2017. On this occasion, released the report on Survey of Fallow lands in the State of  Goa and distributed Soil Health Cards to farmers at the hands of the Chief Minister of Goa in the presence of Minister for Agriculture, Minister for Water Resources and Secretary Agriculture.
