Panaji: 1st Janaury 2018 … XMAS 2017 was organized by YUVA in association with Directorate of Art and Culture from 27th-29th December, 2017 to revamp the old legacy of Christmas programme that used to happen in Mala. YUVA organized various competitions such as crib making, star making, fancy dress and solo dance competition. More than 400 kids had participated in the various competitions.
YUVA’s 5th anniversary was celebrated on 27th December, 2017 with cake cutting ceremony at the hands of Chief Minister of Goa Shri. Manohar Parrikar followed by release anniversary pocket booklet which contains emergency contacts, blood donor contacts, etc. YUVA also felicitated its Advisors who have been there with the organization and supported, encouraged youth to excel in social work. The felicitation ceremony was conducted at the hands of Chief Minister of Goa Shri. Manohar Parrikar, President of YUVA Dr. Rufino Monteiro, Corporator Mr. Menino Da Cruz, Founder of YUVA Shri. Raghuvir Mahale, Advisor of YUVA Shri. Shantaram Naik and Shri. Ashok Patil.
On this occasion, YUVA Founder Mr. Raghuvir Mahale welcomed the guests and spoke about the youthful journey of YUVA for last 5 years. He also spoke about the hard work and YUVA’s achievements and thanked everyone who were responsible for this success. President YUVA Dr. Rufino Monteiro addressed the gathering on the occasion of 5 years of YUVA and requested people to support YUVA and its members in upcoming activities. Shri. Manohar Parrikar congratulated YUVA for its splendid performance in short span and making Goa proud by winning National Award. He expressed his happiness over YUVA’s work for last 5 years and said he would like to work with the organization on two major issues i.e. Accident Free Goa and Swachh Bharat Nitol Goem campaign. He also appreciated members for working hard towards betterment of society.
On 27th December, Fancy Dress and Crib competition results were declared. Fancy Dress was in three categories. In 0-6 years category Yukta Chari, Sharvi Gavnekar and Nishka Lawande emerged as first, second and third prize winners respectively. In 7-10 years category Kannya Naik, Rui Chandelkar and Vidhi Bhandari Chodankar bagged first, second and third prize respectively. In 11-14 years category Sahil Bandodkar, Gargi Silimkhan and Asha Sutar won first, second and third prize respectively.
Crib making competition was won by Gladston Bothelho, Second Prize was given to Sheen D’Silva and Third Prize was bagged by Joshua Pereira.
On 28th December, 2017 solo dance and star competitions were held. Star making competition was won by Zeena Fernandes, Second Prize was given to Sudesh Salgaokar and Third Prize was bagged by Vasant Diukar.
Dance competition received overwhelming response. In 0-6 years category first, second and third prizes where bagged by Rudraj Naik, Nihka Lawande, Sangeeta Sutar. In 7-10 years category by Sanaya Chodankar, Saksham Parab, Trisha Kamat Elekar respectively and in 11-14 years category Navami Naik, Ashtha Devidas, and Lyod Gomes respectively.
On 29th December, 2017, free screening of National Award winning Konkani movie ENEMY was conducted as a part of the entertainment for the public. The screening was attended by Actor Mr. Salil Naik, Mr. Mohan Chandelkar, Actress Ms. Samiksha Desai and they were honored by YUVA advisors Mr. Shantaram Naik and Mr. Umesh Madkaikar.
