Panaji, September 30, 2017 …  “Cleanliness is a ritual and it has to be practiced by everyone on day to day basis. Today’s youth must take inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi and his principles and values. To understand Gandhi and his thoughts, one should read his autobiography My experiments with Truth,” said the Governor Dr. Smt. Mridula Sinha while addressing the students of Goa University.

She was speaking as a Chief Guest at a function organized by Goa University at their Chemistry Block’s Auditorium to mark the 3rd Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission. Adding further that physical hardwork or shramdaan makes a person fit and healthy, the Governor also read the ‘Swachh Bharat Oath’ to the gathering.

Vice Chancellor of Goa University Prof. Varun Sahani and Registrar Prof. Y.V.Reddy were also present on the occasion.

In his welcome address, Prof Sahani said that cleanliness is our fundamental duty and true service. “We must strive to keep ourselves and the surroundings clean. We all must make it as our personal habit,” he urged the students.

The function began with lighting the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. The instructors from Bal Bhavan, later, sang two songs based on cleanliness, penned by the Governor. Prof. Y.V.Reddy proposed vote of thanks.
