Goan Reporter News: Office of CEO Promotes Voter Enrollment through Dandiya Celebration

As part of the SVEEP activities and the enrollment of women in the electoral roll during the Special Summary Revision 2025, the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Goa organized a Dandiya performance to mark the occasion of Navratri at IMB in the city yesterday.

Chief Electoral Officer, Shri Ramesh Verma, IAS, who was the chief guest, stated that the primary goal of this event is to ensure every eligible voter is registered. He informed that individuals who are 17 years old can now pre-register. He further explained that registration can be done online or through physical forms. For any difficulties in the registration process, individuals can contact the Collector’s office or the BLO (Booth Level Officer).

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening democracy, he highlighted that voting is essential for all citizens. Shri Verma added that such programs serve as a way to communicate to society along with celebrating our vibrant festivals and culture; we must also actively participate in the democratic process to ensure the nation’s growth. He concluded with a vision for India’s future, expressing hope that with active participation, India can become a developed nation by 2047.

Earlier, Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Smt. Triveni Velip, welcomed the gathering and shared that Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for voter enrollment, which will take place from October 29 to November 28, 2024. She informed that individuals who have turned 18, those who are 17 and wish to pre-register, or anyone needing to update their address, photo, or change their constituency due to marriage, can enroll during this period.

Smt. Velip further highlighted the special campaign dates scheduled on November 8, 9, 23, and 24, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be available at polling stations to assist with corrections, modifications, or new registrations. She urged everyone to spread awareness about voter enrollment, the importance of voting, and the schedule for registration.
