GOA TO PARTICIPATE AT I -DAY CELEBRATIONS IN NEW DELHI

Panaji: August 5, 2016 … The State Government will participate in the event of independence Day celebrations to be held at New Delhi from August 12 to August 18, 2016.

The highlight of the celebration will be the participation of artists from Goa and from other states of  India in the cultural programme of the Bharat Parv to be celebrated at Rajpath lawn, New Delhi from August 12 to August 18, 2016

The prime objective of organizing the event is to create patriotic mood, ensure wide participation of general public and to showcase rich cultural diversity of the country.

The participating states will display their art, culture, handicraft, cuisine besides performance of celebrity artists of participating states as well as folk performance by local artists. Similarly the states will focus their development projects and programmes among other activities will be showcased.

 Apart from the Department of Information and Publicity which will be the coordinating Department for the participation of Goa State in the I-Day celebrations other Departments and Corporations like Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, Directorate of Art and Culture, Goa Handicraft Corporation and Department of Handicraft, textile and coir are also participating in the week long Independence Day celebrations in the national capital, New Delhi.

The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India will be the nodal agency to coordinate with the participating states for the activities that will be undertaken .

The Directorate of Art and Culture will be participating in the event with 38 folk artists, besides ten Celebrity artists who will showcase the rich cultural traditions of Goa.
