Goan Reporter News: Bonsai Collection At Raj Bhavan Biggest Among Official Establishments/Administrative Institutes In India

Vaman Vriksha Kala Udyan (Bonsai Garden) at Raj Bhavan is now the biggest Bonsai Collection among Official Establishments/Administrative Institutes, in India which comprises of an assemblage collection of 1000 numbers of potted Bonsai trees.

Governor, Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the commencement of the work of Installation of the statues of Acharya Charaka (Father of Ayurveda) and Sage Susruta (Father of Surgery) and renovated swimming pool and changing room in the campus of Raj Bhavan today.

Chief Minister distributed cheques amounting to Rs. 40 lakhs to 160 cancer patients through the Discretionary Funds of the Governor.

Citing the contribution of Acharya Charaka and Sage Susruta in Ayurvedic medicine, the Governor, Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai said, Acharya Charaka and Sage Susruta are two of the most revered figures in Ayurvedic medicine, an ancient Indian system of healthcare.

The Governor said, ayurveda is part of our culture. Renaissance of country based on our tradition and in that process it will be first time in the history of Goa these statues will be installed.

Speaking further the Governor said, Sage Susruta was not only a well-known medical practitioner in India, but also across the world. The Susruta Samhita is among the most important ancient medical treatises and is one of the fundamental texts of the medical tradition in India along with the Charak Samhita. The Governor also informed that the statue of Sage Susruta is on display at the renowned Royal Australian College of Surgeons, Melbourne.

Addressing the function the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant  said, the Vaman Vriksha Kala Udyan (Bonsai Garden) comprises of an assemblage collection of 1000 Nos of potted Bonsai trees, placed in the lawns of the Raj Bhavan will be the biggest attraction for students.

Chief Minister said, students will be inspired by looking at this garden and different types of Bonsai plants will help students fraternity to perform research based studies.

Chief Minister also mentioned that the youths will be inspired to write books based on their research studies.

The work of making the statues of Acharya Charaka (Father of Ayurveda) and Sage Susruta (Father of Surgery) has already started and will be completed, around, by the end of August 2024 informed Chief Minister.

Earlier, Shri M.R.M. Rao, IAS, Secretary to the Governor welcomed the guests and the concept in detail was presented by Shri Mihir Vardhan, Special Officer to Raj Bhavan.

First Lady of Goa Smt. Rita Shreedharan Pillai also graced the occasion.
