09/12/2015 … Impressed by the election strategy used by the aam admi party in the recent held delhi elections where in the party lead by chief minister arvind kejriwal had won 67 seats out of 70 in the delhi elections St cruz mla babush monsoratte has now set on his eyes on the upcoming ccp elections where in mr monsoratte is confident of winning at least 27 seats out of 30 though the mixture of old and new faces
It may be noted that the tenure of the present 30-member Corporation of the City of Panaji comes to an end on March 22, 2016 due to which the state election commission has decided to hold elections for the post of councillors on March 13 according to state election commissioner M Modassir.
CCP is currently headed by mayor Shubham Chodankar who belongs to the BJP-backed panel. CCP councillors are evenly balanced between the BJP-backed panel and St Cruz MLA Antanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate-backed panel.
Former mayor Surendra Furtado and his wife Ruth Furtado are independent councillors.
This time CCP election would be a litmus test for BJP’s Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker, with assembly elections less than a year away while it would another chance for the st cruz mla to show his presence in the panjim constituency which had been ruled by the present defence minister manohar parrikar in yester years.
Speaking to goanreporter.com st cruz mla babush monsoratte said that he had already identified his candidates for the upcoming ccp elections which would be a mixture of new and old where in 60 % of the candidates would be new in the monosratte led panel ..
Mr monsoratte also stated that his panel would give their best to atleast 27 seats out of 30 in he coming ccp elections
Mr monsoratte was of the opinion that since there were a total of 32,000 voters coming under ccp there should have been lesser no of wards rather than having 30 wards in ccp
