09/08/2015 … Power Minister Milind Naik on Friday assured the Goa Legislative Assembly that the electricity tariff will return to almost normal assuring on the floor of the house that even though the process was delayed by 3 to 4 months then the payments which goans had have made extra would be refunded.
It may be noted that the state government has been attracting criticism over the increased electricity tariff from people, the opposition and even its own legislators, who demanded a rollback of the hiked electricity tariff.
The decision of the Electricity department, following the recommendation of the Electricity Board, had almost doubled the tariff and the middle class and lower section of the society were facing hardships in making payments.
Naik also assured the House that within a month electricity bills will be issued on a monthly basis.
Speaking to media reporter’s calangute mla Michael lobo said that he was happy that the power minister had promised to reduce the power bills in the state as goans had already face the pinch of the tariffs being increased in the state
Porvorim mla rohan khaunte said that there was need for a power corporation to put power problems in to place in the state
Meanwhile deputy sarpanch of calangute village panchayat joseph sequiera said that since power issue was a major issue of calangute village panchayat said that it was sad that the state government had no money to give power to calangute village panchayat
