Goan Reporter News: Government has made remarkable initiatives to help Women: CM Dr Pramod Sawant

The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, attended today’s state-level “Swaympurna Utssav” organised by Directorate Planning, Statistics, and Evaluation to honour International Women’s Day at Kala Academy, Campal, today.
The Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways of India Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Member of Parliament – Rajya Sabha Shri. Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Smt. Delilah Lobo, Director of Planning & Statistics Shri Vijay B. Saxena and ZP Member Mrs. Suvarna Prabhu Tendulkar were also present on the dais.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant, expressing his gratitude for the success of the “Swaympurna Goa” programme said that this is one of his greatest ideas that has been acknowledged by the country, and he congratulated swaympurna Mitras, panch members of all village panchayats, and all women for their contributions for the  success of the programme.
He also congratulated all of the play’s participants, who performed a small drama / street play on stage to demonstrate and educate the audience about the various Government schemes available for the welfare of citizens.
Appreciating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on empowering women through his women-led development approach without caste creed and religion, the Chief Minister stated that the government has taken remarkable steps to empower women, including the passing of the Women’s Reservation Bill, which seeks to provide 33% reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies, the cancellation of the a triple Talakh bill, and the provision of free LPG gas connections. The initiatives also includes providing a sanitary pad for one rupee to help women with their health concerns. Schemes such as har ghar toilet, LPG gas connection free etc are also initiatives to support the women.
Addressing further, the Chief Minister said that the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by the Prime Minister of India in 2014 to achieve Open Defecation Free India by October 2, 2019, as an homage to Mahatma Gandhi was widely welcomed throughout the country, and that everyone supported this effort. Similarly Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) is a campaign launched by the Prime Minister to support the girl child and to help end sexism against girls in India. The government has also developed numerous plans to help girls, such as Mamta schemes, laadli laxmi, Sukanya Samrudhi schemes, CCL, PM Mudra scheme, PM Vishwakarma Scheme etc. Other schemes of the Government includes Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojna, Mukhyamantri Rojgar Yojna, Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Yojna, Startup programmes etc. he said.
Highlighting the efforts of five years under Swaympurna Goa 1.0, Chief Minister said different initiatives have been undertaken in sector such as agriculture, horticulture, dairy culture, floriculture, etc., to make women self-reliant.
He urged everyone to visit all of the stalls set up outside the auditorium, which would provide them with additional information about the various government projects, schemes etc. This will also assist in developing financial literacy and suitable investment strategies, which will help them  to become self-sufficient. He also sought support to the Central Government to Make Vikasit Bharat 2047 campaign
successful.
Shri Shripad Naik, speaking said that we have a visionary leader Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, whose primary goal is to focus on every aspect that would assist India on the path of development.  Prime Minister’s motto is to serve the country’s underprivileged people by providing them with the necessary facilities, he observed.
The Union government has implemented many initiatives to empower women, as the four powerful pillars of Vikasit Bharat 2047 are “Women Power, Youva Power, Farmers Power, and Poor Development Shri Naik said and remarked that the Central Government’s recent move to decrease the price of LPG cylinders by Rs.100/- is the finest example
of supporting national development.
Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, speaking on the occasion, praised Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant for his efforts in “Swaympurna Goa,” which aims to empower women. He remarked that the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is trying to develop the country holistically with a focus on women’s empowerment. The government’s tagline is “Make the Right Decision for the Benefit of Society.” The newly passed bill providing for a 33% reserve for women in elections is the most clear example of how to assist women and added the Vikasit Bharat 2047 programme, India will undoubtedly become the
most powerful country in the world.
Other government departments that set up stalls to provide information on various schemes and projects include the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Rural Development Agency, Women and Child Development, Food
and Drugs Administration, Art and Culture, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Industries , Trade and Commerce, the Directorate of Agriculture, EDC and Common Service Centre.
The programme was also attended virtually by Taluka Nodal Officers,Swayampurna Mitras, Sarpanchas, no Councillors, Panch Members, Corporators, and members of the general public who were present in the respective Village Panchayat/Municipal Council / Corporation.
