The District Election North, in collaboration with the Dalgado Konknni Akademi and Our Lady of Rosary High School in Dona Paula, organized a Women’s Day celebration today at Donapaula Jetty, in anticipation of International Women’s Day. Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Smt. Anita Pereira, CEO and President of UDANT, emphasized this year’s theme, “Inspire Inclusion.” She highlighted the inspiring journey of women over the past century, from small revolts to significant revolutions, which have led to the freedom and rights enjoyed today.
Smt. Pereira stressed the importance of supporting and inspiring women who still need empowerment, urging everyone to work towards inclusion of women in all fields, especially in education. In conclusion, she emphasized that valuing and respecting women’s contributions will lead to empowering more women and shaping a better society.
Additionally, a Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) activity was organized, where students from Our Lady of Rosary spoke about the importance of women casting their votes for a stronger democracy. The students also showcased a Group dance performance depicting the excellence of women in various fields.
Professor Gervasio Mendes, Nodal Officer,SVEEP North Goa, Election Icons Miss Samiksha Desai, Shri Pradeep Naik ,Shri Willy Goes along with members of Dalgado Konknni Akademi were also present on the occasion .
