Panaji: July 18, 2015 … The Governor of Goa, Mrs. Mridula Sinha on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr has extended greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa, and the Muslim community, in particular.
In her message the Governor has said, Prophet Mohammed gifted us with his invaluable and eternal message of love, compassion and tolerance, which has greatest relevance today, when the world is afflicted with problems of religious fundamentalism, hatred, violence and conflicts.
In a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual country like ours, it is essential for all of us to promote and maintain inter-religious understanding and co-existence among the different sections of society. Let us, therefore, on this auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr, draw inspiration from the eternal message of the Prophet, and practice it in the best interest of social harmony, national unity and integrity.
The Governor further has said, Goa is traditionally a peaceful State, where people of different faiths live in harmony and mutual understanding. It is the duty of all the citizens to maintain this tradition in the interest of one and all, she added.
