Goan Reporter News: Republic Day celebrated at Ponda

Minister for Agriculture Shri Ravi Naik today called for  concerted and combined efforts by the people to maintain unity to achieve socio-economic development of the state and country. Highlighting the significance of the Indian constitution, Shri Naik said that the Indian constitution is set up to ensure welfare and development of every citizen of this country, bestowing equal rights on everyone and to live their life with dignity.
Shri Naik was speaking after unfurling National Flag on the occasion of Republic Day celebration at Kranti Maidan Ponda today.
Shri Naik urging the people to participate and contribute to the developmental process of the country said that  the State has seen noteworthy development in almost all the sectors – be it in education, Science and technology, industries, culture, sports and health over the years. Central government has contributed for the overall development of Goa, thereby benefiting us tremendously under the able leadership of Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.
Earlier, the Minister placed a wreath at Martyrs memorial and paid homage. He also inspected the guard of honour from the Police contingent.
Students from various schools from Ponda and surrounding areas presented Patriotic songs.
The function was also attended by  Chairperson of Ponda Municipality, Shri Ritesh Naik,  Additional Collector Shri Vishal Kundaikar, Deputy Collector Shri Uday Prabhudesai, D.Y.S.P and SDOP Ponda Ms. Arshi Aadil (IPS), Commanding Officer 6TTR, Lt. Col. Hemant Soni,  Ex.MLA and Freedom fighter Shri Rohidas Naik, freedom fighters, Government  officials, teachers, students among others.
