Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is organizing 2nd Edition of the Best Tourism Village Competition, 2024. The aim of the competition is to identify villages with an unwavering commitment towards uplifting the rural economy and to preserve culture and natural heritage through tourism. The central focus remains on ‘Honouring the Soul of India’ while advancing the objectives to foster social and infrastructure development.
Besides, the Ministry has also initiated Best Rural Homestay Competition which will serve as platform for rural homestay to showcase their unique offerings, allowing tourist to explore novel and captivating lodging options an experiences.
In the 1st Edition of the competition, the Cotigao Village in Canacona Taluka recognized as the Best Tourism Village , 2023 in Bronze category. The 2nd Edition has already been instituted by the Ministry and the last date to submit online application to participate in the both Competition is December 31, 2023. On portal www.rural.tourism.gov.in.
