The All Goa “Inter-Higher Secondary Quiz competition” on the theme “Welfare Schemes of Goa Government” organised by the Department of Information and Publicity evoked overwhelming response as nearly 50 Higher Secondary Schools from across Goa participated in the quiz held at the Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, in the city, yesterday.
Shri Subhash Chandra, IAS, Secretary, Information and Publicity who was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony lauded the efforts of the Department of Information and Publicity for conceiving a novel idea in organising quiz on important topic welfare schemes of the State Government for the students of Higher Secondary School. He stated that endeavours like this will help the students to gain valuable knowledge on the relevant subject and spread greater awareness amongst the masses through the participants of the quiz contest. He said, apart from creating awareness through the release of advertisements and other publications, holding such a quiz involving students will have greater impact.
The Secretary further emphasized the need to encourage students to delve into the intricacies of State Welfare Schemes. Students, he said, participated in the quiz not only to win prizes but also for contributing to the greater cause of spreading awareness about Government initiatives. Shri Subhash Chandra urged participants and institutions involved to provide valuable suggestions for improvements or for effective changes in existing schemes. Emphasizing the need for collective efforts for the nation’s development, he expressed the department’s commitment for expanding the scope of the quiz competition annually and also for including more educational institutions including colleges in the coming years. The event marked a significant step towards empowering students with knowledge about government welfare schemes and inculcating in them a sense of responsibility for the nation’s progress.
Shri Prakash Naik, Information Officer who extended a warm welcome to the participants, highlighted the quiz’s objective to create widespread awareness about the Government’s diverse schemes. He commended the significant turnout and active participation of students. He also explained about the various initiatives and measures adopted by the department to disseminate information about social welfare schemes through varied modes of communication.
Mast Vedang Gaunkar and Mast Mohit Talaulikar of Dr. K. B. Hedgewar Higher Secondary School bagged the 1st Prize of Rs 15,000 with Trophy and Certificate. 2nd Prize of Rs 10,000, certificate, and trophy went to Mast Fazel Fernandes and Miss Sania Hattewadi of St. Alex Higher Secondary School, Curtorim. Miss Purvi Thakur and Mast Rehan Satvilkar of Our Lady of Lourdes Higher Secondary School, Valpoi Won the 3rd Prize of Rs 8,000, certificate & trophy, while Miss Vedanti Vast and Miss Sailee V. Naik of Harmal Panchakroshi Higher Secondary School, Pernem bagged 4th place winning the prize of Rs 5,000, certificate, and trophy.
Two bonafide students from each higher secondary participated in celebration of knowledge on “Welfare Schemes of state Government.
The Quiz had written Preliminary Round of 20 questions and top 4 teams qualified for on stage Audio Visual quiz performances, which had five rounds.
