The Directorate of Art and Culture has announced the Goa State Cultural Awards and Best Cultural Institution Award 2023-2024. This year the Directorate of Art and Culture will honour 12 eminent personalities in the field of Art and Culture by conferring the prestigious Goa State Cultural Award for their contribution and achievements in their respective fields like Music, Drama/Tiatr, Folk Art, Bhajan, Kirtan. Craft, Literature, Painting, etc. The awards are for the year 2023-2024. These awardees have set an example to the youth of Goa and are encouraging them by dedicating their life for promotion and preservation of Art and Culture of the State. Also every year one Cultural Institute is being considered for the Best Cultural Institute Award.
The recipients of Goa State Cultural Award 2023 are – in the field of Indian Music- Shri Pradeep M. Shilkar, Ponda, Shri Shridhar K. Barve, Bardez, Shri Shivrai T. Fondekar, Quepem; in the field of Drama- Shri.Naresh A.Kadkade, Bicholim; in the field of Tiatr- Shri. Hortencio S.Pereira, Quepem, Shri. Menino Fernandes (Menino de Bandar), Salcete; in the field of Literature- Shri. Tukaram R shet, Bardez, Fr.Manuel Gomes, Salcete, Shri Shaileshchandra P. Raikar, Salcete, Shri Vithal Gawas, Bicholim; in the field of Bhajan- Shri Ulhas S. Palni, Pernem and in the field of Fine-Art- Shri. Dnyaneshwar V. Wadji, Tiswadi. Kala Shuklendu, Panaji Goa begged the Best Cultural Institution Award 2023-24.
The Goa State Cultural Awards comprises of a cash purse of Rs.1,00,000/- each, shrifal, shawl, certificate, and Nataraj Replica. The award for Best Cultural Institution consists of a Memento and Cash purse of Rs. 3.00 Lakhs. The Goa State Cultural Awards for Individuals and Best Cultural Institution will be presented to the awardees at a special function to be organized by the Department of Art and Culture.
