On the joyous occasion of Diwali, the Governor of Goa Shri P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has conveyed his heartiest greetings and warm wishes to the people of Goa.
The Governor in his message said that Diwali is one of the most significant festivals of our country which is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy irrespective of religion, caste and creed. Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “Victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance”. According to mythology, Diwali was first celebrated to mark the arrival of Lord Rama and Sita back to their hometown after defeating Ravana in Lanka and serving 14 years of exile. This also signifies that there is always victory of good over evil.
The Governor further said that “On this beautiful festival of lights, I urge all the people to eradicate the evils from the society and re-dedicate ourselves to work to promote peace, communal harmony, good-will, patience and prosperity of our country which is the essence of this festival”. May the celebrations of Diwali bring happiness and prosperity to one and all.
