To mark the celebration of Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji’s 73rd Birthday, scheduled on 17th September a significant project, Rakta Chandan Udyan (Red Sandalwood Garden), was inaugurated by the Governor, Shri P.S. Shreedharan Pillai at Raj Bhavan campus, Dona Paula today
The program was organised by Raj Bhavan and the Department of Forest. First Lady of Goa Smt. K. Rita Pillai graced the occasion. The Governor and his spouse planted the sandalwood sapling.
The Governor expressed his satisfaction for the dedicated services rendered by all those who made Rakta Chandan Udyan a reality. He emphasized the importance of such projects in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable practices.
Rakta Chandan Udyan is a remarkable initiative of the Governor, promoting the cultivation and conservation of the precious Red Sandalwood, a revered and valuable resource. The project stands as a testament to India’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modiji’s vision for a greener and prosperous India is reflected in the establishment of Rakta Chandan Udyan. The Red Sandalwood tree holds immense cultural, economic, and ecological significance, and this garden will play a pivotal role in preserving this iconic species for generations to come.
Shri MRM Rao, IAS, Secretary to Governor also planted the Rakta Chandan sapling in the campus. Others present on the occasion were Shri Umakant Prasad, APCCF, Shri. Praveen K. Raghav, CCF, Shri. Saurabh Kumar, CCF, Smt. Tejaswini Pusuluri, DCF, Smt Cliffa Dcosta, ACF and Smt Mariana, RFO.
