Panaji, July 13, 2014 :::: Minister for Art and Culture Shri Dayanand Mandrekar has asked the budding artistes to strive hard to develop their artistic talent and achieve excellence in the field of art and culture, while protecting Indian culture and values.
Shri Mandrekar was speaking on the occasion of Birth Centenary celebration of Late Krishnambhatt Bandkar, first playwright which was observed Gomant Rangabhoomi Din at a function held at Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji, yesterday.
Shri Sanjay Mone, Renowned Actor was the chief guest on the occasion.
Speaking further Shri Mandrekar said that Goa has produced eminent artistes like Sant Rohirobanath Ambiye, Krishnambhatt Bandkar, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar particularly from rural areas. He complimented the Kala Academy for its activities. He told the artistes to avail the benefit under the schemes of art and culture.
Shri Sanjay Mone, Shri Mohan Bugade and Shri Laximan Mhambre also spoke on the occasion.
On the occasion, six Goan theatre personalities namely Laximan Mhambre (Khorjuvem), Damodar Kanekar (Sanguem), Mohan Bugade (Parse), Krishnanath Mahale (Karapur-Bicholim), Mahadev Shet Kesarkar (Margao) and Mahesh Tamhankar (Siolim) for their valuable contribution to Goan theatre stage, especially in rural areas were honoured at the hands of Shri Mone. They were offered memento, certificate, shawl and purse of Rs.10,000/- each on the occasion.
Shri Mandrekar , Shri Mone and other dignatories gave way the prizes and certificates to winners of one act play competition organized at High School, Higher Secondary and College level during the year 2013-14.
Shri Sushant Khedekar, Vice-President, Kala Academy welcomed the gathering. Shri Prasad Lolienkar, Director of Art and Culture and Member Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Ajay Vaidya compered the function.
Earlier Shri Mandrekar and other dignatories offered floral tributes to the portrait of late Bandkar.
