Goan Reporter News: Republic day celebrated at Quepem

Power Minister, Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavlikar unfurled the national tricolor to mark the 74th Republic Day at a programme held at Government Sports Complex, Borimol, Quepem.

Shri Dhavlikar extending his wishes on the occasion of 74th republic day said, this is a day to remember all those who laid their lives in the cause of the nation and their sacrifices.

Shri Dhavlikar said, as the country celebrates Republic Day the biggest achievement of country is that we continue to be the largest and the most vibrant democratic country of the world. Today is the day to remember and reiterate our responsibility  to protect and preserve the assets and infrastructure created and developed by the Government and to participate in every Government programme to realize its objective, he remarked.

Further speaking Shri Dhavalikar said, democracy was strengthened due to the constitution provided by Babasaheb Ambekar. It is recognized as the first democracy  and a vibrant one in the whole world. The progress made by the country in the last 74 years was only due to the Constitution.  The constitution gave due justice to all the constituents.  It is the responsibility of every citizen to see that the country prosper while progressing.  The country has done exceptional work in every field, be it infrastructure, water supply, water resources, education, justice system or the arts.  It is the responsibility of every citizen to stop the unconstitutional things that happen while considering the security of the country.  Shri Dhavalikar expressed the need to stop people of our own country who are on the path to undertake unconstitutional things.  While strengthening the organization of the country, it is necessary to think how the hands of the poor people will be strengthened.  India became independent in 1947.  The State of Goa joined the mainstream Union of India in 1961.  Even after 14 years of independence, the State has performed exceedingly well in every field, he said.

On his arrival, Shri Dhavlikar was received by Quepem Deputy Collector, Smt Sharmila Gaonkar and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shri Nilesh Rane.

He received guard of honor and inspected parade and March past presented by contingents of Police and students contingents of Schools of Quepem Taluka.

Ex Minister, Shri Domnic Fernandes; Director, Directorate of Art and Culture, Shri Sagun Velip; Mamlatdar Quepem, Shri Pratap Gaonkar; Police Inspectors Shri Vaibhav Naik and Shri Dipak Pednekar were present on the occasion.

March Past was presented by Police Contingent led by Police Sub Inspector, Shri Shivram Gawas which also saw participation from Student contingents of Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem; The New Educational Institute, Curchorem; Government High School, Morpirla; Holy Cross Institute, Quepem; Government College of Arts, Science and Quepem; Government High School, Balli; Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem; Government High School, Malkarnem; Government High School, Xeldem.

Police Sub Inspector, Shri Ramesh Bhosle, Lady Police Sub Inspector, Smt Archana Goankar and Assistant Sub Inspector, Shri Anil Mahadik judged the march past competition while Shri Sunil Fatarpekar and Prof Varsha Prabhugaonkar  judged the cultural programme competition. Shri Pradip Shirwaikar compered.
