ccp corporator oppose construction of police coastal jetty at ribandar

20-07-2013 … Is the ribandar jetty opposite goa institute of management being built for an upcoming casino or for customers which could be ferried to the famous vaxim island where in an upcoming hotel project has been proposed of it seems yes according to the ccp mayor surendra furtado who has received a letter from corporator of ward no thirty of the corporation city of Panjim vivina nasnodkar who has raised her objections for the construction of a fifty meter in length of a coastal jetty opposite goa institute of management.

 In a letter written to the executive engineer of public works department highway division on 9th of july vivina has request the pwd department to stop the construction of the police coastal jetty opposite santa casa which is 50 meters in length taking in to consideration of the jetty having a heritage value where in works such as repair and renovation of the jetty has been tendered by pwd building division along with retaining wall, tenders for laying tiling, beautification lamps and benches to attract tourist in connection with small boats under her requests”

 

Even in a letter which is addressed to the ccp mayor surendra furtado, vivina has also stated that the propose police coastal jetty would totally destroy various above benefits which are there for the villagers of ribandar and has asked for a resolution in the upcoming council meeting for avoiding the construction of coastal police jetty at ribandar

Meanwhile speaking over the issue ccp mayor surendra furtado said that he had received a letter from the corporator viviana nasnodkar raising objections over the construction of a coastal police jetty in ribandar and since there was a large population of fishing community which accesses to the river through the ribandar jetty along with senior citizens passing their time sitting at the side of the jetty he felt that the state government or police should have a costal jetty at ribandar”

 

principal chief engineer of public works department j s rego said it was up to the coastal police department to inform them as weather to carry on with the work or not as they had nothing to do with it until the coastal police officials inform them anything about it
