SOON ALL GOVERNMENT EDUCATIONAL INTITUTIONS WILL GET FULL TIME INDEPENDENT HEADS – CHIEF MINISTER

Panaji: December 4, 2016 …. Government has initiated steps to give full time independent heads to all Government educational institutions across Goa and in days to come all educational institutions from High School till Colleges will get qualified and efficient independent heads declared Chief Minister Shri. Laxmikant Parsekar. Government is expending crores of rupees for the development of educational sector in State and that expenditure is important and worth. Government is carrying out its responsibility in proper manner, the rest lies is in the hands of teachers and students to maintain the facilities provided to them urged Shri. Parsekar. He was speaking after inaugurating new building for Government College of Commerce and Economics in Borda Margao.

Others present on the occasion were MLA of Fatorda Constituency Shri. Vijay Sardessai, MLA of Margao Constituency Shri. Digamber Kamat, Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council Dr. Babita Prabhudessai, Secretary for Education IAS Smt. Nila Mohanan, Chairman of Advisory committee of College Shri. Damu Naik, Vice Chancellor of Goa University Dr. Varun Sahani, Managing Director of Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues, Director for Higher Education Shri. Bhaskar Nayak, Officiating Principal Dr. Fatima De Souza and others.

Further speaking Shri. Parsekar said that Government has given priority to education and for making every institution of the State a role model Government is putting in all efforts. Earlier common man was looking at Government educational institutions as secondary class but now by providing state of the art infrastructure and facilities, government has achieved success in changing this mindset. Now Government institutions are standing on par with private institutions and competing with them, Shri. Parsekar said. He also said that once a teacher always a teacher, so teacher during working hour’s concept is now wiped out. Teachers should understand some genuine reasons of the students and try to solve it, Shri. Parsekar urged. It is a need to come out with educated and cultured generation to take forward Goa as a role model State to other States.

Shri. Digamber Kamat said that India will be superpower only through education and for this every citizen should be educated. Teachers and also students should be dedicated to produce good citizens he said. Shri. Vijay Sardessai said that youths need to be agents of change in the society. He urged students to protect democracy and idea of India and said that he is very much happy as the modern building of education is set up in his Fatorda Constituency .

Dr. Varun Sahani said that there is no greater sign of progress then new educational premises. Every citizen should be partner in teaching and learning process of society he said. Dr. Babita Prabhudessai, Smt. Nila Mohanan and Shri. Damu Naik also spoke on the occasion. Shri. Bhaskar Nayak welcomed the gathering while Dr. Maria De Souza proposed vote of thanks.

This new building project has been designed to be a full fledged College providing facilities for Commerce and Economics Education under one roof  along with library, multipurpose hall with green room, Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan hall, Admin block etc. This gound plus three stories building was designed at a cost of Rs. 13.12 Crores.
